Team Members
Steven Tran
Steven is an MD-PhD student at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and PhD candidate in Northwestern’s Health Sciences Integrated Program. His interests are in combining electronic health record data, machine learning, and biomedical informatics approaches to automate healthcare processes such as drug adverse event surveillance.
Noah Forrest
Noah is an MD-PhD student at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and PhD candidate in Northwestern’s Health Sciences Integrated Program. His primary research interest is in integrating biorepository and electronic health record data to create precision medicine solutions, primarily in the context of autoimmune and rheumatologic diseases.
Gigi Dawood, DO, FACE
Dr. Dawood has been a practicing clinical adult Endocrinologist since 2004. Currently, she’s in her second year of a Clinical Informatics fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Her interests lie in global improvement of diabetes care, telemedicine/RPM, physician burnout.
Jiancheng Ye
Jiancheng is a PhD candidate in the Health Sciences Integrated Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is interested in improving the cardiovascular health of vulnerable populations worldwide through health informatics, late-stage translational research, and implementation science.
Saki Amagai
Saki is a PhD student studying biomedical informatics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Prior to joining the program, she worked with a team of scientists and software developers to develop a mobile health app called the MobileToolbox, which remotely assesses cognitive function in adults.
Tobias Holden
Tobias is an MD-PhD student at Northwestern, and PhD candidate in Northwestern’s Health Sciences Integrated Program. He is interested in applying mathematical modeling to population health, with a focus on social and environmental determinants of disease. Tobias’ research focuses on modeling public health interventions to reduce the burden of malaria in endemic settings.
Theresa Walunas, Faculty Advisor
Theresa Walunas is an Associate Professor and Associate Director for the Center for Health Information Partnerships at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Walunas’ research focuses on using electronic health records, intersected with genetic, social and environmental data to 1) develop translational models to elucidate the molecular and environmental mechanisms of human autoimmune disease and 2) develop EHR-based tools to improve care for people with autoimmunity.
David Liebovitz, Faculty Advisor
David Liebovitz is a practicing internal medicine physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Co-Director of Center for Medical Education in Data Science and Digital Health at Northwestern University. He has led numerous information technology projects for use in clinical practice and research. My research area of interest is in the field of clinical informatics, and specifically, around aspects of patient safety. Topics include clinical decision support, patient engagement, preserving confidentiality, and predictive analytics.
Yuan Luo, Faculty Advisor
Yuan Luo is a data scientist at Northwestern University. His research interests include machine learning, natural language processing, time series analysis, integrative genomic analysis, and big data analytics, with a focus on medical and clinical applications. He is an Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine (Health and Biomedical Informatics) and McCormick School of Engineering, and Chief AI Officer, Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS) and I.AIM.
